The Raw Truth About Amazon KDP: An Open Letter to Amazon

By  Prashyant Jha – A Publisher You Destroyed-  Medihertz Blogs

The Honest Reality Amazon Doesn’t Want You to Know

Let me be brutally honest about my Amazon KDP experience. This isn’t a complaint – it’s a warning and a plea for humanity in a system that has none.

I built Medihertz Blogs from nothingon Amazon KDP in February 2025. No money for courses, no legal background, just a person trying to create income and a difference in society. I followed YouTube tutorials, learning from scratch I  published  30-40- journals, and when those first sales came in – 1-2 books per month of only 6-7 Journals – I felt hope. Real hope that I could build something sustainable. I could inspire others. I was thankful to Amazon.

But here’s the harsh truth Amazon doesn’t want new publishers to know:

The System is Designed to Crush Small Publishers

The Raw Truth About Amazon KDP: An Open Letter to Amazon

The Copyright Trap is Real

Amazon’s copyright guidelines are intentionally complex. They’re not written to help you understand; they’re written to protect Amazon legally. When I asked for clear guidelines on identifying copyrighted content, I got corporate nonsense that helped nobody.

Think about it: if experienced copyright attorneys struggle with fair use and copyright boundaries, how can Amazon expect everyday people to get it right every time?

The “One Strike and You’re Out” Mentality is Inhumane

I made mistakes. I admitted them. I learned from them. But Amazon’s system treats every error as intentional theft. There’s no room for human learning, no grace for improvement.

My account was suspended multiple times before the final termination. Each time, I became more careful, more paranoid, more invested. And each time, Amazon gave me just enough hope to keep trying before pulling the rug out completely.

The Aftermath: Financial and Emotional Destruction

When Amazon terminated my account permanently, they didn’t just take away my publishing rights – they took:

  • 6 months of daily work

  • Hundreds of hours of creative energy

  • My investment in software and tools

  • My belief that hard work pays off

  • My trust in platform fairness

And when I tried to start fresh with my company email? Blocked. The message is clear: “You made a mistake? You’re dead to us forever.” Take a new birth and then try again submitting your journals.

The Attorney Predators

The worst part? When you search for help, you find attorneys charging $2,000-$5,000 with no guarantees. I did not consult any only, I just saw their rate charts. They prey on desperate publishers who’ve lost everything. Amazon creates the problem, and lawyers profit from it.

An Open Letter to Amazon Leadership

Dear Amazon Decision-Makers, specially Jeff Bezos, if you still have any rights in your company.

If you want to truly support creators instead of just profiting from them (Now, I dont know about other business streams. As you are connected with different business persons. if you have the same rule there too, then the following applies to all of them), here’s what needs to change:

1. Create Real Education, Not Just Rules

Instead of complex legal documents, provide:

  • Simple, clear checklists for copyright compliance

  • Video tutorials that show real examples

  • A pre-publication review service for uncertain content before the book is been published. Dont allow Copyrighted books to be published. spend some smart money man. you made amazon. you can do it, dont feel disappointed. learn right AI. I am trying to learn it too. If you would be interested we can enroll together in a new AI course.

  • Human support that actually helps rather than copy-pasting responses

2. Implement a Fair Warning System

  • Why are you in hurry to terminate the account? you can remove the books. why the account? what do you do with documents data of publishers that you took while allowing the one. if you remove the account. you must pay at least $10000. pay every removal you did till now. because you are banning them through out the life. what will you want if you would get life imprisonment?

  • Actual human review of appeals

  • Clear paths to correct mistakes

  • Distinguish between intentional theft and honest errors. Why are you so dumb to wait for a dumbest person to write and explain you in a blog article. are you really among the wealthiest in the world?

3. Allow Rehabilitation

  • Let people learn from mistakes and return better

  • Stop the lifetime ban. if banning . pay $10k USD.

  • Create a probation system for reinstated accounts

  • Understand that most small publishers are trying their best

4. Remember Your Humanity

The Raw Truth About Amazon KDP: An Open Letter to Amazon

Jeff Bezos . You built Amazon through trial and error. You made mistakes, learned, and grew. Why don’t you extend that same opportunity to the people building on your platform? Have you forgotten this time of yours?. Now dont say you never committed any mistake. Remember, It doesn’t mater how Costly things you are wearing, inside there is this person with the spark of vision and humanity in his eyes. who made the world a better place by connecting everything. No doubt Soon Amazon will get delivery orders, and delivery location would be 3IATLAS.

A Personal Plea for Medihertz Blogs and worldwide Terminated Publishers.

To whoever has the power to make decisions at Amazon:

Please reconsider our case. Restart Medihertz Blogs. Give me and thousands of us a Fair chance to show you we’ve learned. I’m not asking for special treatment – I’m asking for the same grace every human deserves when they’re trying to improve.

I’m not a thief. I’m not trying to scam the system. I’m an ordinary person who is trying to learn with mistakes. Isn’t that how every successful person starts? Isn’t it how you Started? Jeff are you still there?

The Ultimate Truth About Wealth and Legacy

Jeff Bezos, you won’t take your wealth with you when you die. None of us do. What remains is our impact on other people’s lives.

Right now, Amazon’s KDP system is destroying dreams instead of building them. You’re crushing the very creators who make your platform valuable.

Is that the legacy you want? A system that preys on people’s hopes and destroys them when they stumble?

To New Publishers Reading This

Understand this clearly: Amazon KDP is like building your house on someone else’s land. They can evict you anytime, for any reason, with no real appeal process.

If you still want to try:

  1. Document everything

  2. Assume everything is copyrighted until proven otherwise

  3. Have multiple income streams outside Amazon

  4. Prepare emotionally for potential termination

  5. Don’t invest more than you can afford to lose

Final Words to Amazon

The ball is in your court. You can continue being a heartless machine that destroys small publishers, or you can become a platform that actually helps creators succeed.

Reinstating Medihertz Blogs and thousands of Genuine accounts would be a start. But real change means fixing the system for everyone.

We’re human beings, not just account numbers. Start treating us like we matter.

This is my truth. This is my experience. This is what Amazon KDP really feels like from the other side.

FAQ:

Q1: What happens when Amazon KDP terminates your account?
A: When Amazon KDP terminates your account, you lose everything immediately – all your books, pending royalties, and publishing rights. They permanently ban you from the platform and typically block any new accounts you try to create, even with different email addresses or business information. It’s a complete wipeout of your publishing business with no recovery options.

Q2: Can you get a terminated KDP account back?
A: Almost never. Amazon’s termination decisions are typically final. Some desperate publishers hire expensive attorneys charging $2,000-$5,000, but there are no guarantees. The appeal process is mostly automated with copy-paste responses, and genuine human review is extremely rare. Once you’re terminated, consider that part of your life over. Now if you can spend good or you come in a connection with a good heartily human, you may get your account back. many got theirs, many spent a healthy amount.

Q3: Why is Amazon KDP so strict about copyright issues?
A: Amazon protects itself legally above all else. Their copyright guidelines are written by lawyers for legal protection, not for actual understanding by everyday people. The system makes no distinction between intentional copyright theft and honest mistakes made while learning. They’d rather terminate 100 innocent publishers than risk one legitimate copyright lawsuit.

Q4: What are the biggest risks of using Amazon KDP?
A: The biggest risks are: permanent account termination for minor or unintentional mistakes, losing all your work and income instantly, vague guidelines that are impossible to follow perfectly, no real appeal process, and the emotional devastation of having your creative business destroyed overnight without warning.

Q5: How can Amazon improve their KDP system?
A: Amazon needs to: provide clear, simple educational resources instead of complex legal documents, implement a fair warning system with actual human review, create paths for rehabilitation and second chances, distinguish between malicious copyright theft and learning mistakes, and treat publishers like human beings rather than disposable account numbers.

Q6: Is there life after KDP termination?
A: Yes, but it’s incredibly difficult. You’ll need to completely rebuild on other platforms while dealing with the trauma of losing everything. The key lesson is to never depend entirely on one platform. Diversify across multiple publishing channels and always have backup plans. The experience leaves permanent scars but can be a harsh lesson in platform dependency.

Q7: Why don’t they give second chances to publishers who made honest mistakes?
A: Because it’s cheaper and easier for Amazon to replace you than to help you improve. They have an endless supply of new publishers willing to try, so why bother with those who made mistakes? The system values efficiency over humanity, profits over people, and legal protection over genuine support for creators.

Q8: What should new publishers know before starting with KDP?
A: Understand that you’re building on borrowed land that can be taken away anytime. Document everything, assume everything is copyrighted until proven otherwise, never invest more than you can afford to lose completely, have multiple income streams outside Amazon, and prepare emotionally for potential termination from day one.

Q9: How does Amazon’s treatment of small publishers compare to Jeff Bezos’ own journey?
A: Ironically, Jeff Bezos built Amazon through trial and error, learning from mistakes, and having multiple chances to improve. Yet the system he created doesn’t extend that same grace to small publishers. Bezos had the freedom to fail and learn, but KDP publishers get one strike and they’re out forever.

Q10: What’s the emotional impact of KDP termination?
A: It’s devastating beyond just financial loss. It destroys your belief that hard work pays off, damages your trust in platform fairness, creates financial stress, and leaves you feeling powerless against a giant corporation that doesn’t see you as human. The psychological impact can last years.
