The IRS is set to distribute $1,400 stimulus checks to approximately one million taxpayers who missed claiming the Recovery Rebate Credit in 2021.

Eligible taxpayers do not need to take any action; payments will be automatically sent via direct deposit or paper check by late January.

Understanding the Recovery Rebate Credit 

Taxpayers who filed a 2021 tax return but either left the Recovery Rebate Credit section blank or entered $0 may qualify for this payment. 

Who is Eligible? 

Those who have not yet filed their 2021 tax returns can still claim the credit by filing before April 15, 2025, even with minimal or no income.

The maximum payment amount is up to $1,400 per person, depending on individual eligibility and income levels.

Eligible taxpayers will receive separate letters from the IRS notifying them of their special payment status.
