Billy Crudup celebrated a major win at the 2024 Emmy Awards, where he claimed the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Morning Show.
During his acceptance speech, he made a lighthearted and affectionate remark about his wife, Naomi Watts, calling her his “piece of eye candy,” while also acknowledging her nomination for her work in Feud: Capote vs.
The Swans. Crudup expressed admiration for Watts’ versatility, highlighting her talents as an actress, businesswoman, and immigrant.
Crudup, 56, beat out several other high-profile nominees, including Jon Hamm, Mark Duplass, Jack Lowden, Jonathan Pryce, Tadanobu Asano, and Takehiro Hira.
This win marks his second Emmy for the same role, having previously taken home the trophy in 2020 for portraying network president Cory Ellison.
He also gave a nod to the creative team behind The Morning Show, crediting them for creating scripts that consistently challenged his abilities. Additionally, Crudup mentioned his children, sending them a warm message during his speech.
Crudup and Watts, who tied the knot in 2023 after several years of dating, have been seen as one of Hollywood’s most admired couples.
The two had a second wedding ceremony in Mexico this June, attended by close family and friends, including Watts’ children from her previous relationship with Liev Schreiber.

His costars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Mark Duplass were also nominated, contributing to the series’ impressive presence at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The 2024 Emmy Awards were particularly competitive, with other standout nominees like Jack Lowden from Slow Horses, and Jonathan Pryce for his portrayal of Prince Philip in The Crown.
The evening also celebrated newcomers like Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira, recognized for their performances in FX’s Shōgun, which garnered 25 nominations, leading the drama category.
The Morning Show, now in its third season on Apple TV+, continues to be a critical success, with audiences praising its dramatic storytelling and standout performances, especially from Crudup and the ensemble cast.
