Some of the countries major highways were forcefully closed after two people were killed in the coastal areas of South Africa due to unseasonably late snowstorms.

 

The reason for the unfortunate deaths was hypothermia. These two people were stuck inside there vehicles which was stranded by heavy snowfall on the N3 Highway. This is the major rout of the Coastal city of Durban.

As the reports confirm one of the victims was a female who was stuck in the Minibus aging 39.

The officials of the Province KwZula-Natal and Free state warned that these places and few others were worst hit by the storms. Officials warned that these areas may face heavy floods after the ice starts melting. Many farmers are reported missing. It is estimated that many corps of the farmers were burred under snow for two days.

Many emergency personnel were towing dozens of trucks and other vehicles that were stuck in the snow, while others distributed food and warm beverages to drivers who had been stranded for hours.

A warning was declared for Motorists to drive carefully in the areas that have been cleared

In KwaZulu-Natal Schools were closed, Thulasizwe Buthelez, the provincial minister for cooperative governance warned that communities along the Tugela River may experience flooding.

Buthelezi said, “As schools remain closed, parents are urged to keep children away from unguarded bodies of water, including rivers and dams,”
