This is a digital cymatics-inspired visualization. A mathematical model of standing waves on a vibrating plate drives thousands of simulated grains, which drift away from high-motion antinodes and settle along low-motion nodal lines β the same principle that produces sand figures on a physical Chladni plate. With no sound present the field stays perfectly still.
Real audio analysis
Microphone, audio-file, tone, ambient, binaural and noise sources all pass through a Web Audio AnalyserNode. Dominant frequency is estimated from the FFT magnitude spectrum with parabolic peak interpolation, while bass, mid and treble band energies drive intensity, complexity and fine grain detail.
