The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched its ‘Sangthan Parv, Membership Campaign 2024’ on Monday, September 2, in a historic event that began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking the first membership. This symbolic gesture was followed by senior BJP leaders, including BJP President JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah, renewing their memberships.

In his speech, PM Modi reflected on the long and challenging journey of the BJP from its early days as the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. He recalled how, in those times, party workers often had “one foot in the train and the other in jail,” constantly traveling while facing imprisonment by the ruling party. Despite these hardships, the BJP has grown by painting the lotus symbol not just on walls but into the hearts of the people.

The PM highlighted that the new membership campaign aligns with a historic moment: the implementation of 33% reservation for women in Vidhan Sabhas and Lok Sabha. He pledged to ensure that this reservation would lead to women’s success, stating that the BJP will work to get more women elected as MPs and MLAs.

Modi also addressed the significant strides his government has made in providing housing to those who had lived in slums for generations. By providing 4 crore families with homes, the BJP has offered not only an address but a future. He further emphasized that the youth, especially those between 18 and 25, are the greatest source of power to fulfill the dream of a developed India by 2047.

Modi’s speech conveyed the party’s commitment to nurturing the dreams of the country. He stressed that the BJP is not just a political machine but the fertilizer and water that help the country’s dreams take root and grow. He expressed confidence that the membership campaign would break all previous records.

Home Minister Amit Shah echoed this sentiment, declaring the BJP the largest and most unique political party in the world. He proudly noted that no other party in India runs a membership campaign every six years in a democratic, open manner like the BJP.

BJP President JP Nadda praised PM Modi’s unwavering dedication to the organization, even amidst his busy schedule as the leader of the country. Modi has always kept the organization at the forefront, embodying the principle that the party comes first.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reinforced this sentiment, commending Modi for bridging the gap between political promises and actions. Singh recalled how, when Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, he insisted that the party’s election manifesto should contain only those promises that could realistically be fulfilled.
